FarmFest Feed: Feature Breed Announced, Event Feedback, Applications Open

FEATURE BREED

We are very excited to announce the feature breed at FarmFest ‘26 is the Traditional Simmental Fleckvieh. Originally from Switzerland and with over 40 million head worldwide, this dual purpose breed came to Australia over fifty years ago. Through astute selection of their massive international gene pool, this breed has adapted well to Australia’s wide range of environments and production systems in both pure and cross bred commercial programs.

Spokesperson for the Traditional Simmental Fleckvieh Society, Trevor Anderson said “FarmFest is a terrific opportunity for us to showcase the breed and to put a spotlight on their ability to produce high yielding, lean meat as well as high volume milk production". Keep an eye out for more news about the Traditional Simmental Fleckvieh feature breed in upcoming newsletters.

Your Feedback Helps Shape FarmFest

Each year, FarmFest visitors and exhibitors provide valuable feedback to us, both directly and via the post event surveys. Your feedback assists us in planning for future events as we strive to make improvements every year. One very pleasing result from the 2025 survey was 84% of attendees were from the agri community - that is they are farmers, farm managers or employees, or they supply products and services to farmers. This is very important to us as organisers as the very reason that FarmFest exists is for farmers - therefore it is vital that farmers remain core to everything we do.

While the majority of attendees felt nothing was missing from the event, there were suggestions for improvement including better traffic management and additional seating. Work has been done in both of these areas to improve your experience at FarmFest 2026!

Black Truck and Ag Expands

Long time Elders Farm Fest exhibitor, Black Truck and Ag, part of the Harvey Black Group, recently announced a new chapter in its story of growth with the opening of TJM Toowoomba and the purchase of Armstrong’s Auto Group. Now rebranded as Black Auto Group, this purchase adds Nissan, GWM, Jeep and Suzuki to the already impressive lineup of world class vehicle brands that include RAM, Isuzu Ute, Isuzu Trucks and Iveco. General Manager of Black Truck & Ag, Jason Black said "This acquisition allows the group to bring its values of quality, integrity, and customer-first sales and service to even more people in the region, and by investing locally and expanding strategically the Harvey Black Group continues to build strong community ties while supporting local employment and industry".
