Karyn’s involvement with livestock began at school age, and continued through a Dairy Apprenticeship. She went on to work in the USA with beef and dairy before returning to Australia and co-founding Benmar Farm. She is currently working as a VET teacher with Australian Agricultural Training covering agricultural certificates and traineeships.
Carissa’s livestock story has been built on experiences as a child with the relationship between livestock and food and companionship. Her first personal experience was on a dairy as a young adult, continuing with a small farm enterprise in the USA before returning to Australia and co-founding Benmar Farm. She is currently working as a farm business management trainer and thought-partner.
Karyn and Carissa’s FarmFest milking display session will introduce cattle breeds, the difference between beef and dairy, how milk comes from cows, and what animal welfare means as a farmer. There will be a live milking demonstration during the informative talk, with lots of opportunity for questions.
